THEM GOODS : SPRING 2009 COLLECTION

This online catalog was something I was working on for my good friends over at THEM GOODs distribution. These guys make some awesome bearings and rep the most progressive riders in the Inline Industry. Their brother company Valo also develops some amazing rollerblade technology as well. Who knew rollerblading had come so far? Not only have these guys really inspired me to get back into rollerblading, they even got me a pair of Skates!

CSUF EXIT GALLERY - BUBION, ROSELI, MADDEN

Last week two friends and I held a collective art show at our schools undergraduate gallery. New works by my friends Joe Roseli and Aaron Madden were featured with some old pieces of mine as well as a pretty big installation i painted on the gallery walls. Aaron and Joe also busted some installations and overall the whole show felt very cohesive. Good Times all around and I look forward to future collaborations with these talented artists.

483 E Project 3 index

STEVEN HOLL WEBSITE

For my 483E web design class were redesigning an architects website.. The site's not completely up yet but should be within the next few days. This is what the home page looks like though.. I wish I new flash better cause I can totally visualize how it would all look if the different elements slide and flowed in.

TYPOGRAPHY CONCEPTS

These typographic case studies were originally used for a concept in my web design class. This sans serif typeface is called Cranberry Gin and works great for masking texture and images within the letter forms wide strokes. Comparative to Helvetica, I found the geometry of the letters intriguing and sought to contrast these with organic and ornamental textures and design elements to make things a little more interesting.

COLLAGE

THESE ARE THE FIRST COLLAGES FROM A HUGE PROJECT I'M PLANNING. I'VE BEEN PUMPING OUT AT LEAST 10 A DAY SO IN ORDER TO GENERATE MORE IMAGERY I'VE DECIDED TO LEAVE THE MAJORITY OF THEM OPEN ENDED. THEN LATER I CAN APPROPRIATE THEM, ADD TYPE/DETAIL/ETC... I REALLY ENJOY THE COLLAGE PROCESS AND THINK THIS MAY BE THE MOST SATISFYING PROCESS FOR ME. .

GIFT

I made this collage for a good friend of mine's birthday. The numbers within her chest represent the birth date.

SELF PROMO

LOGO for Elie Daher

THIS LOGO/LETTER COMBINATION WAS DESIGNED FOR A BUDDY OF MINE. I FOUND THAT DURING MY FIRST SKETCHES HIS TWO INITIALS WERE REMINISCENT OF THE YIN AND THE YANG AND HIM BEING THE COOL DUDE THAT HE IS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE. AS WELL, I THOUGHT THE CONCEPT CONNECTED WITH HIS TRADE AS A PHOTOGRAPHER CONSIDERING THE DESIGNS SIMILAR QUALITIES TO THAT OF THE LENS'S SHUTTER. DUNNO IF YOU GUYS SEE THAT...

SPARE THE AIR MUSIC FESTIVAL AND CLEAN AIR CAMPAIGN

HERE'S A FLYER I DESIGNED FOR A FESTIVAL COMING UP IN DOWNTOWN FULLERTON. SOULD BE FUN!! YA'LL SHOULD COME (=

FRACTURE

THIS IMAGERY WAS GENERATED THROUGH A PROCESS CALLED FRACTURING IN WHICH INFORMATION WITHIN MY PHOTOGRAPHS IS MANIPULATED TO THE POINT OF DISTORTION. THROUGH A COMBINATION OF COLLAGE AND COLOR MANIPULATION AS WELL AS MULTIPLE LAYERING THEESE EFFECTS WERE ACHIEVED. ALL I NEED TO DO NOW IS INCORPORATE SOME TYPE TO GIVE THESE GUYS SOME SORT OF FUNCTION. FUN FUN..

Letter Combination for a logo

These d & p letter combinations were for a client involved in pairing and matching physicians with medical offices. I think i did about 50 different variations and then the client decided to go with a different name involving only type. These were fun though and I think there's a few I could probably elaborate on for possible portfolio pieces. Practice practice practice. I <3 TYPE

What if?

Painted in Corel Painter for my Illustration final. The basis for the project was to be from a Shel Silverstein poem. My instructor Jen Long selected various poems from the author and this one stuck to me.

Collage..

These two collages were generated out of my poster experimentation for my special studies final. I kinda just left them alone for now and had an idea that maybe they could be for a play/movie poster or something.. i dunno what do you guys think?

Extra Credit

These were some more posters i did as extra credit for my 483 Special Studies Classes. Good Times =D

Aquarium of the Pacific Posters

These guys required use of a historical style. I choose to roll with the 60's poster style and Art Nouveau. Printed them on some really nice textured paper (=

363B Editorial Illustration (Digital Revolution)

Project 4 for my digital Illustration class was to paint a topical illustration for a Magazine Editorial in photoshop. It's pretty self explanatory. Having been my first exercise in painting with photoshop I think it came out well. I had fun with it and I definatley look forward to painting more shit in ps. (=

Multiple Choice

Tee Design/Type Treatment for Multiple Choice Apparel

Image Manipulation

The imagery presented here was composed from personal photography and scanned substances. The project was to eventually become a book showing the steps i used in order to acheive the resulting imagery. There were a few more images i manipulated but these were the only one's i felt were interesting... The project was initially for professor Theron Moore but i choose to drop his class the second week because i felt three special studies classes plus two studio's was too much. anyways......

Aluso Pasta Package Design

Did this one about a year and a half ago just though i'd resurrect it. I'll be working on some new way more conceptual package designs in the following weeks so watch out (=

Business Card

This card came about from a project in my Typography C class. Quite funny actually.. Having to design a business card for a fellow graphic design student. I didnt really understand why the teacher didnt just have us design our own. In turn, i ended up getting a really weak design from the student that had to design my card. Kinda sucks cause i think i hooked this girl up...

New Dimensions Soccer (T Shirts)

So these are the ideas i had for the NDS kid's tee's. I'll be submitting them to my professor and hopefully he'll be getting them to the client before the week is done.... I hope they like... it would be awesome to see little kids running around in some of these (=

363B Project 3

This project was an exercise in image manipulation. Taking subjects out of environments, placing them in new one's and giving them new meaning. i like the colors...

363B Project Two

The objective of this project was to illustrate a character. The characters are required to have a character trait, costume, and some sort of expression. Although i feel that pirates have become a cliche i had fun designing this guy.

363B Project One

These two guys were based on a project revolving around heritage.
